YPH Invest Over £½ Million in a more sustainable future

At a time when many companies are cutting back, YPH Waste Management in Yeovil stands out as a company with an eye to the future.  We have invested in plant, machinery and people, to ensure we continue to meet our customers' demands well into the future.

We have invested over £½ a million in a new waste recycling system at our site in Lufton Park, Yeovil. We have been working over the last 12 months with Blue Group, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of Waste Recycling Systems, who recently completed the installation of the new plant.

Our  increased ability to recycle more of the waste we handle not only helps the environment by reducing waste to landfill, but also has a direct effect on limiting disposal costs – which we in turn seek to pass on to our customers.

Ian Bowker, Director at YPH has said “We felt despite the challenging trading conditions many of our clients are experiencing that this was the right time to make a significant investment in our plant and machinery – to secure the long term benefits of being able to recycle up to 90% of the waste we handle, and to divert waste from landfill to energy production”.

Landfill tax is now at £56 per tonne and will rise steadily to £80 per tonne in 2014. It’s likely that future Governments will continue to increase the cost by another £15 per tonne each year until 2020 – which could push the cost of disposal above £190 per tonne.

This anticipated level of tax means that most businesses will need to have a competent waste management partner in place to help control their costs.

YPH also provide an alternative to the Civic Amenity Site in Yeovil – which is now closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Julian Wicks Commercial Manager has commented “We have had an increase in the general public tipping with us since the changes. We are always happy to discuss how we can help provide people with an appropriate waste solution – in most cases for the general public this is a skip or mini skip. Our drivers are able to get to most locations”.

The new recycling facility was formerly opened on the 12 October 2011 and attended by a number of waste professionals including (left to right in the top picture holding the ribbon, click on the picture to enlarge) Steve Read, MD of the Somerset Waste Partnership, Derek Yeomans, the Chairman of Somerset Waste Board and County Councillor, and Henry Hobhouse the Waste Portfolio Holder for South Somerset District Council.
