YPH called in by liquidator’s agent to clear site of hazardous materials

Sadly the business of Woodberry Bros & Haines Ltd, a furniture maker in Highbridge and one of the town’s biggest employers, failed in the summer.

In order to sell the substantial factory premises the administrator’s agent needed to clear the site and buildings of all the hazardous materials that had been left – principally adhesives but also machine oils, lubricants, paints, varnishes, thinners, resins, hardeners, sludges, detergents, acids, corrosives and flammable liquids.

These were scattered around the site and building in several hundred drums and buckets with and without lids, as well as IBCs

YPH were called in with a tight deadline driven by the site going to auction, and responded with speed & precision - initially listing all the different types of waste and taking test samples for those not recognisable.  This took two specialists all day.

We then decanted wastes into suitable containers for transport, repacked and labelled wastes where necessary and put them on pallets. This took a team of two, and at times three, people three days to complete.

A tanker was used to suck water-based adhesives from IBCs, and four curtain-sider artics removed palletised waste and the remaining IBCs

Shortly after the job we received the following email from the agent:

“Good morning - Just to say thank you for the above – the guys who cleared the site did an excellent job. “
