Site Waste Management Plan

Below is a real SWMP in which YPH features as the sole waste contractor. The site is an office extension and fit-out worth about £2m, the first wing of which was completed as shown with the second wing in early 2010. Note the final box.

Brief description of works

Extension to office building (1000m² extension)
Removal of existing car park, formation of new car park and construction of extension
Situated in an existing car park with good access to front and rear with good storage compound

Site set up

Site plan and traffic management plan will be displayed in the office and canteen showing skip positions

Waste types and estimated quantities

Rubble/hardcore - 2 skips over period of bricklaying

Wood - 4 skips over duration of works (after start of roof)

Cardboard/paper - 2 skips during fit out period

Metal - 3 skips over duration of works

Mixed other - 1 every 2 weeks

Domestic (wheely bin) - 1 per month

Training

During all site inductions the site plan displaying the location of the various segregated skips and recycling is shown.

Materials Handling
Materials most susceptible to damage	Measures in place to reduce or eliminate damage
Multigold bricks	Delivered and stacked by the lorry tight to the fence in the compound. Brought out by forklift and loaded out by hand.
Bags of cement	Delivered on pallet, broken down by labourer and placed towards the back of our container.
Windows	Subcontractor supply and fit only when site is fully ready to receive.
Doors	Come wrapped and protected. Labourer to take immediately into building and store in suitable area.

Monitoring Arrangements

Reports gathered from YPH on segregation, also a number of skips used to compare to original estimate. Target is minimum 80% waste diverted from landfill.
