Bin sizes and capacities

Although not a typical case study, we are regularly asked for bin sizes and so we thought it would be helpful to put these on our site. If you have any questions about the information below please do not hesitate to ring the office.

Roll on bins – indicative sizes, typical applications and weight capacities

20-yard - suitable for inert and mixed/inert waste, where densities tend to be high, including building sites, schools and nurseries.   These bins have rear doors which will open, enabling a dumper truck to be used for loading.
L x W x H: 19' x 8' x 5' Max Weight: 16 tonnes

40-yard - suitable for lighter, bulkier waste for high-output users, including factories, distribution, shopfitters, schools, hospitals and other commercial users.
L x W x H: 19' x 8' x 9' Max Weight: 16 tonnes

 

Skips - indicative sizes, typical applications and weight capacities

2-yard mini-skip - ideal for small domestic, garden and DIY jobs
L x W x H: 6' x 4' x 3' Weight: 2 tonnes

4-yard midi-skip - suitable for home, DIY jobs where more capacity is required and ideal for builders doing small building jobs. L x W x H: 8' x 5'6" x 3'6" Weight: 4 tonnes

6-yard builder’s skip - including enclosed and lockable. This is the standard skip used by builders and for larger DIY jobs. L x W x H: 10' x 5'6" x 3'6" Weight: 8 tonnes

8-yard skip - including enclosed and lockable. Suitable for building sites and large domestic requirements.
L x W x H: 12' x 6' x 4' Weight: 10 tonnes


10-yard, 12-yard and 14-yard open - ideal for large light bulky wastes such as from shop-fitting factories and commercial premises.   L x W x H: 14' x 7' x 5'6"   Weight: 10 tonnes
